Yep, full blown Common Cold (or at least I hope that that is all it is)! It's a little miserable when you have to go to work and you're suppose to be on your feet almost all of that time. I picked up some ColdEeze yesterday so we'll see if that helps. I went to bed at 9:00 last night but I woke up about 5:30 this morning not being able to breathe very well because of the stuffy nose - and couldn't fall back to sleep. As soon as the cats hear someone up, they just kinda go crazy scratching at the door so someone will feed them! Ugh.
I'm definitely in the slow motion weight loss mode. Fifth day and only a little over a pound lost. I had a hard time drinking my water yesterday with how busy I was at work and then, I forgot it and left my big water mug there! Hopefully it's still there (I left it in the library). I got off my eating schedule and probably had one too many snacks. I picked up a protein bar from Trader Joe's and though it has 15 grams of protein, it also has 260 calories - too many in addition to everything else for one day. Better luck next time. Additionally, I just can't get up the energy to exercise because of this dumb cold, so I'm sure that has a lot to do with the tortoise speed weight loss.
The widget scripture-of-the-day is amazingly fitting each day this week to give me strength to overcome my temptation to the diet cola (and the weight loss plan). I actually fudged one time on Wednesday and had one can of diet cola. I was fading fast at work and didn't think I'd make it through the rest of the day. I was taking care of the babies in the Teen Parent Program and figured I had better be semi-alert to their needs! Then I remembered the scripture was about pride and I slapped myself because I didn't remember to hand it over to the Lord. Or maybe I did and He actually helped me feel justified? Do you think that's possible?
Today's widget scripture is: Moroni 7:42: Wherefore, if a man have afaith he bmust needs have hope; for without faith there cannot be any hope." I can have faith and hope to be able to kick this awful addiction into oblivion (with the Lord's help).
Yesterday was a success (and it didn't even seem that hard). Becca sent me an article about kicking the soda habit. (Thanks Becca)! I think it's hilarious that the two banner ads that show at the top are for Coke and Diet Coke! Hilar! I'm sure the authors of the article are unaware! There are some pretty good ideas in the article! I've tried a couple of the ideas and might try one of the others. I think what saved me yesterday was drinking a Cascade Ice Coconut flavored sparkling soda - no caffeine and no "sugar". The sweetener in it is sucralose but better than aspartame. Anyway, I've tried a couple of the suggestions and will try another.

One of the suggestions in that article was iced tea, but we don't drink tea. I made a red clover infusion several months ago and found that it tastes a lot like ice tea. My husband loved his ice tea, and has struggled with that and soda. So now he can just make red clover infusion (an infusion is similar to tea, except you pour boiling water over the herbs and then let them sit for 4-10 hours).
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I like to do too. Only I'm not patient enough to wait that long. If I'm making a lot, I'll still have some 4-10 hours later, but the first cup is probably within a half hour!
