Who is the better companion? Wilson the Volleyball or Max the Dog?

Have you seen those movies where, in the beginning of the flick, someone is portrayed as the last human on earth?  Or stranded on a deserted island?  (Think "I am Legend" or "Cast Away").

Last week, for about four days there, I was thinking I was in one of those movies about being the last human on Earth.  I had almost no contact with human life and the only "person" to talk to was Max, the dog.  Much better than a volleyball.  Stinkier, much stinkier, but better.  (Actor Tom Hanks found a volleyball on his deserted island and interacted with it.  He named it Wilson).

It's so nice to participate in the human race.  Actually.  Even with the nonsense that goes on, it's better to have human interaction than to not.

Since last Thursday, it's be really rough with such low energy levels, but I have enjoyed a Skype session, dinner invitation, baby blessing, hanging out with the grandkids, etc. so putting forth the effort to get dressed each day has been so worth it.

Jeff and Jenna flew in on Saturday.  They've been here for almost three days now.  It seems so natural to have my family with me here at the house, but at the same time, I go for so long without any human interaction sometimes, that it almost seems a little weird to actually have someone to talk to or just feel their presence 24/7!  I hope to have more interaction soon so the weirdness turns back in to normalcy.

Jeff is suppose to fly back to Oregon this evening, but he's not feeling well at all.  Aching, feverish and super tired.  Sounds suspiciously like the flu.  I've got some essential oils diffusing, bringing him lots of liquids and he's still in bed.  (The sick attending to the sick - we're quite the pair, eh)?  We were suppose to go over to see the kids one last time before Jeff left, but that is not going to happen.  I wonder if he'll even be able to fly this evening.

Jenna and I are planning on leaving tomorrow morning, driving up to Rexburg then doing a campus tour of BYU-Idaho but I don't think we'll make it on time.  I still have a lot to do to finish Autumn's quilt and the house is in need of a thorough cleaning before we leave.  I think I will offer to pay Jenna to take on all of the cleaning while I try to get the quilt done and pack.  I can only sit up for so long at a time, and only so many times during the day, so I better sign off now and use this opportunity of uprightness to sew!
